Books and their movies

“Never judge a book by its movie.” ~ J.W. Eagan.

SoCover of "The Kite Runner" what is your favorite movie adaptation of a book? I would have to go with The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini. I think the writers and directors did a really good job of capturing the essence of the book without losing too much of its plot. The movie evoked a lot of the same emotions for me that the book did. I would love to see the move adaptation of A Thousand Splendid Suns by the same author. Patiently waiting…

Now, with the good I have to ask about the bad. What book did you love that bombed as a movie? Even thought The Twilight movies got better as they progressed, the first one left me wanting to tear my eyes out. The acting was atrocious. Robert Pattison looked more constipated than the love-struck vampire he was supposed to be portraying. Luckily I read all the books before I watched the movies. If it had been the other way around, I’m not sure I would have stuck it out.

Are you with the half of the population that is going to be waiting for the Fifty Shadesmovies? I must say, I am curious to see how they are going to pull that one off…they might have to bypass the theaters and go straight to Skinemax.
